Stylist of the month

Congratulations to stylist Jemma Gunningham for winning this months stylist of the month! 

This month Jemma created a beautiful ombre look, by applying a darker tone to the root and through the mid lengths of the hair. She then went through the ends of the hair with a lighter colour using a 'balayage' effect to help blend the colours; creating this soft graduated look.

The look was finished using big tongs with a range of styling products including, So Pure defrizz serum and Kuene gloss spray to finish.

We all agree that this transformation is beautiful!

Bridal/Editorial styling workshop

Monday 15th September

Three members of the Envy team attended a bridal/editorial workshop delivered by hair guru Joseph Konaik, who has worked on the film set of Harry Potter, TV series Downtown Abbey and Strictly come dancing. Not only has he done this, but he has also produced many glamorous images for magazines such a Vogue and Tatler.

The team gained some incredible tips and skills at the workshop and intend to pass their knowledge onto the rest of the team.

 

Celebrations are big at skills group hair competition!

The Envy team did incredibly well in the skills group hair competition this month! The Envy apprentices took part in the hair competition at The Holiday Inn and were individually part of three different categories which were, Vintage, Glitz and Glamour and finally Punk, Rock and Roll.

Megan Bennet took 3rd place in Glitz and Glam.

Ellie Temple took 2nd place in Punk, Rock and Roll.

Not only did our apprentices do extremely well, but also owner of Envy, Tracie Gunningham who was awarded Employer Of The Year award!

Tracie was filled with emotions but said she was "thrilled to receive the award" and was delighted that both her parents were there to see the moment. Tracie's father was also celebrating his 73rd birthday so celebrations were all around and a great night was had by all!

Envy raise £275 for Hugs For Henry Charity

Saturday 13th September

Envy took six talented members of their team to House of Fraser, Plymouth to set up a pop up barbershop. The team offered shoppers their services for just £10 a cut to raise money for charity. The stylists spent the day cutting hair of various members of the public.

But even more exciting, they cut and styled the hair of six male models! Along side photographer Emma Barrow they created various looks for the men's autumn winter collection photo shoot followed by a fashion show and raised an incredible £275 in total for Hugs For Henry.

Envy BWY Birthday celebrations

Saturday 28th June


June always marks the time when the whole Envy team gather to celebrate, not only the birthday of Envy BWY, but also all the staff's birthdays too. This year the staff all chose to have a summer BBQ at owner, Tracie Gunningham's house which included all of their partners and children.

Tracie and husband Ian both worked extremely hard all day to make their home a welcoming place for all their staff; oh and one outstanding BBQ buffet too!

After the Gunningham's recent trip to Dubai, they learnt many new tricks perfect for some party games.

This included their 'cold stone' themed game for all the children to take part.
The aim of the game involved something along the lines of, taking a scoop of ice cream and throwing it to their partner who had to catch in an ice cream pot... You can only imagine the mess.

Soon enough the game turned into a huge ice cream fight, but it was great to see all our children smiling.

The ladies ended up in the hot tub singing along to music whilst the men chilled by the fire.

The drinks went down far too well by all.

Who knew Envy were One Direction secret fans?

Friday 6th June


Salon owner of Envy- Tracie with Business and Marketing manager- Sara went to 'regain their youth' by taking their two young daughter to the ONE DIRECTION concert.

The trip entailed of a train journey straight to London where they met the lovely Sam Cox at her hotel near Wembley Stadium, where some unexpected star fame was brought to hand before the concert. They were all extremely lucky to the Britain's Got Talent finalist, who were by luck staying in the Cox's hotel.

A chance to be embarrassing mums; photo bombing was definitely in order.

Quote from owner Tracie "1D were excellent and were the support act, five seconds of summer. We had a day of shopping the following day then all feeling exhausted- more like 10 years older! We returned home after all in all a great weekend to remember!"

House competition winners Jemma Rowe and Rachel Ackland each held their own festival themed photo shoots along side Plymouth based photographer Emma Barrow to demonstrate their perceptions of the perfect 'festival hair'.

Both stylists incorporated a range of hair accessories, along side the use of the current popular trend of plaits to create these perfect festival seasons summer looks.
